June 2009

Writers Ink completed its first year in May 2009, and what a year it was!

We hosted a coffeehouse in January, an AIDS Walk Benefit Concert that raised $350 in May, a Visiting Author Series that brought five professional writers to WHS, the Poetry Out Loud student poetry recitation contest, and an end of year party with a very tasty cake!

Students submitted work to Teen Ink, a national student run magazine; attended writing workshops at Grub Street, Boston’s happening independent writing center; and labored over laptops many Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in room 351.

We’re looking forward to a successful sophomore year in 2009-2010 !  New writers always welcome.

Writers Ink At Play

In January 2009, Writers Ink held its first coffeehouse at WHS.  Student performers recited poems, danced, sang, rapped, and wowed the audience with their creativity.  The Watertown Tab published a cover story about the coffeehouse.  To see the archived story online, go to http://www.wickedlocal.com/watertown/homepage/x1621252629/Watertown-High-School-writing-group-holds-first-coffee-house

December NewsFlash!

December 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The members of Writers Ink have been hard at work punching away at the keys of our laptops. Since our inception in October, we have designed our logo, created this website, posted writing to the site, and conjured the muse for inspiration. We are also planning our 1st ever Writers Ink Extravaganza, a celebration of music and writing that will include singing, readings and performance. Join us on Friday, January 9th in the Lecture Hall!
